Geological Material Definitions for Beebe Lake
Surface Material
Lacustrine silts and clays: Generally laminated clays and silts deposited in lakes at the foot of glaciers. Potentially unstable, these materials are found in variable thicknesses up to 160 feet
 
Bedrock Material
Genesee Group (or Ithaca Formations): These dense, black, bitumous layers with thin bands of gray shales and siltstones are found at elevations of 200 to 1000 feet and may contain pyrites and calcereous sandstones.
