Monkey Run
Description
This property, with more than 500 acres of natural area, is part of a long biological corridor extending along Fall Creek from the northeastern edge of Tompkins County to Cayuga Lake. Cornell Plantations manages the forests along Fall Creek, while other Cornell departments and organizations manage adjacent open land and conifer plantation forest. This area is heavily used for recreation (hiking, skiing, and canoeing) and is especially important for birding. |

Location

Visitors can approach Monkey Run by vehicle or on foot.
From Cornell by vehicle - reach the south side of Fall Creek by taking Route 366 east. Turn left on Monkey Run Road. Continue beyond the abandoned railroad right-of-way to a small parking area at the bottom of the hill. You may park in the snowplow turnaround are if there is no snow to be plowed. The Cayuga Trail passes through the parking area - look for the orange blazes. Or, south of the parking area, you can follow the wide, level pedestrian trail on the abandoned railroad right-of-way.
