Kids Growing Food - at School! In addition to reading, writing, and 'rithmatic, some schools are now adding gardening to the curriculum. Thanks to an exciting program called Kids Growing Food, thousands of students at more than 300 schools are learning how food grows - and how to grow it themselves. Forest Farming at the MacDaniels Nut Grove At Plantation's Upper Cascadilla natural Area, a once-abandoned woodlot is being transformed into a "forest farm." Here, students grow fruits, medicinal herbs, nuts, and mushrooms in the shade of 70-year-old nut trees, planted by one of Cornell's most eminent horticulturists.
